I'd love to see where this is heading...
Mood:  incredulous
Dubya's 2006 State of the Union speech was last night, in which he stated that America is addicted to oil, and that we have to change that. I've known that - as have many other sane people - for quite some time, but to hear that coming out of his mouth...well, it goes against everything that guy is. I'd like to know the environmentally conscious Democrat who was holding the proverbial gun to his head on that one. Bottom line: I'll believe it when I see it actually come to fruition.

sickening.
Mood:  don't ask
Chapter 27.

The fact that this film, about "Voldemort's" life in the days leading up to John Lennon's murder, is being made at all is annoying. It's giving Voldemort just what he wants: he killed Lennon so he could be famous. But what's really disturbing is that they're filming outside the Dakota, where Lennon was killed and where Yoko still lives. I can't imagine looking out my apartment window and seeing an actor made up to look like my husband's killer. Anyone up for protesting a film?

not too bad!
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: the morning announcements
Saw Love Monkey on CBS last night, and it was pretty darn good - even though they dissed Hanson. Ha! Seriously, though, it was funny, smart, and I think I'm developing a "crush" on Judy Greer.

Ya know, it's not too bad...
Mood:  chatty
After a great afternoon of food, fun & shopping with Alex, I went to chorus to once again try to sing the Hardest. Part. Ever., that being baritone. It's actually getting easier - duh! I've been keeping an open mind about it, and ya know, it's actually FUN to sing the notes that nobody else wants to sing! One of the section leaders complimented me too, especially that I've picked up on the "old" parts of one of our songs (that I already knew in lead), which made me float on Cloud Nine!!! Singing bari is exhilarating and challenging. I think I finally get it. :-)

I'm so ashamed...
Mood:  down
Now Playing: my iPod, in a minute - whee!!!!
After just one sitting, I've found myself addicted to Beauty and the Geek.

It was on after Smallville (I'm really not liking Lex lately, but he's so darn sexy - I think it's my Patrick Stewart fixation), and of course Adam wanted to ogle at the hotties...and I'll admit, there are a couple cute geeks - Lord knows I tend to gravitate towards them...I think it's the glasses. ANYWAY, I was drawn into (and surprised by) the heart of the show. These people genuinely want some help in streamlining their lives. I'm looking forward to seeing how the show progresses.

...and I might get to drive it once in a while...
Mood:  amorous
Now Playing: New York State of Mind (in my head - no idea why)
Our new baby - a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid!
(By the way, that's me in the background jumping up and down like a moron. Which is odd, because we bought a Honda, not a Toyota.)

I love fate. I guess 'twas fate that determined that we should have this car now. We actually bought it right off the lot at Honda of Joliet - amazing since most places haven't been able to keep them in or just told people to place an order and wait 6 weeks. It drives like a dream, it looks awesome, and it should get 50 mpg. Yippee! But, since Adam does most of the driving for his work, he gets the snazzy new car and I stick with my 1999 Ford Escort, which is fine since I barely go anywhere far away in that car except chorus, Joyce's house or Alex's house, or to see various Beatle bands.

this sucks rocks
Mood:  sad
Now Playing: Cell Block Tango
Super Smokers, the St. Louis home of the best ribs I've ever tasted (as well as the only place I've found to get sweet potato fries), and one place that Adam and I always HAD to go to when we visited my family, closed this week with no warning. Mom said she'll try to get us a couple bottles of their BBQ sauce, which is available in some grocery stores, but she makes no promises. Ugh. This definitely sucks rocks.

crazy me...
Mood:  chatty
Today's my first day back to school after winter break. I had a lot of fun with both family and friends: a lot of laughs, warm hugs and quality time. I've got more quality time coming up with more friends this weekend. I'm lucky that I have such awesome people in my life.

And yet what's on my mind the most right now is that bag of Baked Cheetos waiting for me on my kitchen counter.

an end-of-the-year funny
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: World Falls - Indigo Girls
The funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
It's not complicated humor or anything, just something that made me laugh heartily.

I love winter break...I know there's things I need to do, but I think the majority of today will be my "Sit on my ass and do nothing 'cause I can" day. Yesterday I spent the day in Chicago with Jenni, and the day before Heather and I went for tea, which was quite cool. Shopping on both days as well, which is always nice, especially when good bargains are found. Spending the weekend with Hubby (perhaps going to see an art show in Aurora tomorrow afternoon), and next Wednesday I'll get to see Alex and finally give him his ultra-cool Xmas gift. And then back to school on Thursday...which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I remember last year I actually was ready to come back to school; the break had been just the right amount of time.

But until then, and until I realize that I *really* need to shower, I will sit in my pajamas and snuggle with a kitten or four.

so freakin' sick...
Mood:  blue
...of crap like this.
I'm sick of these Republican morons who think that, just because they're rich enough to not have to worry about their kids' education, that apparently they're the only ones deserving of one. These lawmakers are robbing the poor to pay off the federal deficit that (surprise) didn't exist the last time a Democrat was in the White House. I wonder how quickly we'd be able to pay it back if we weren't in Iraq.
